About TDB

Third decade of service. Same standard.

TDB Communications started as a telecommunications services company, became a federal workforce solutions provider, and is now building the technology practice to match. Through all of it: veterans first, quality measured, promises kept.

Our story

From Lenexa to the nation's capital.

TDB was founded in 1999 in Lenexa, Kansas, by Terry D. Bryan and Laird Simons, both telecommunications executives. Bryan, a United States Marine and Purple Heart recipient, built the company around the people he trusted most: those who had served. TDB quickly earned awards for its growth and its service to the telecom industry.

In 2005 the company shifted from telecom services to workforce solutions focused on the federal government, and that August received the first of four GSA supply schedules. The model that followed, pre-screened talent, in-house clearances, role-specific training, and measured quality, is the one TDB runs today.

At the end of 2017 the co-founders retired. Bryan transferred his majority ownership and his roles as Chairman and CEO to Thomas A. Duckenfield III, Esq., an attorney, executive, and U.S. Army veteran. A Washington, DC native, Duckenfield moved the headquarters to the nation's capital.

Today TDB serves more than 70 federal agencies in over 25 states, including Veterans Affairs, Defense, Interior, Homeland Security, Commerce, and State. In 2026 the company brought IT and security operations in-house and chartered its Innovation and AI Lab, extending the same discipline to technology.

What we stand on

Four things that haven't changed since 1999.

Veterans first

Founded by a Marine, led by a soldier, and staffed deliberately with people who've served.

Measured quality

Six Sigma, PMBOK, and an AQL on every program. If it isn't measured, we don't claim it.

Security as a habit

PHI and PII handled daily, inside controls we run ourselves and can explain to any assessor.

Client-focused

Our KPI is client satisfaction. Communication with contracting officers and CORs stays open, candid, and documented.
